SPM-UniSIM Project Management Forum 2016

After jointly organising three successful talks in 2015, UniSIM and the Society of Project Managers, Singapore (SPM), kicked off another series of events for 2016, with the Project Management: Where is it Heading? Forum on May 27. Four experienced project manager from different backgrounds were invited to UniSIM to share with the 80 attendees the role of project manager in public and service sector in Singapore, China and Australia.

Ms Helen Chen, Executive Director, Center for Public Project Management, Ministry of Finance, kick-started the forum by explaining the leadership principles for project success.

Ms Yvonne Butler, Chief Executive Officer, Australian Institue of Project Management, elaborated on the project management value chain and sits contribution to a country's gross domestic product. SHe also expounded her views on the fututre of the profession and the need for capability-building in the Asia Pacidic region.

Mr Bill Young, President, Asia Pacific Federation of Project Management, shared his views on Agile China versus the Traditional Western Approach to Project Management,based on his project management experience in China of more than a decade.

Mr Yip Kim Seng, Second Vice President, SPM, spoke about the need to raise the standard of project management practice in Singapore, and "why","how" and "when" SPM will institue this change.

Prof Cheong Hee Kiat, who is an Honorary Fellow of SPM, presented tokens of appreciation to the speakers after their sharings. Everyone also enjoyed a sumptuous buffet lunch at the end of the forum.
